moody march.

march can be a bit of a temperamental month, so that's what encouraged me to make a simple, spring minded setup! e n j o y

spring break style.

IT'S OFFICIALLY MARCH!

First thing that comes to mind...spring break is near (if you get those still!?) + it had me reminiscing about one my my first shoots I did a couple years back with NFOCUS...it was alllll about COLOR + my theme was "spring break brunch".

It's funny to see my style NOT changing a bit- I am STILL using the same elements, I still have a massive love for color, and I love a brunch theme ...but hey at least I am consistent.

THROWING A MORNING PARTY? // HERE ARE SOME TIPS

1.  prep as much as you can the night before... these bloody mary sticks (green olives, sundried tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, +  pickled okra) took a while for me to assemble so instead of being flustered on the day of, i prepped them the night before and I am so glad I did!

2.  chill the champagne beforehand! here's a great article on the best way to enjoy this bubbly drink + you need at least a couple hours to cool.

3.  have everything table top wise pulled out + ready to go (ESPECIALLY florals) so all you have to do is place + style, the tablescape can take a while so make sure you allow enough time in your morning to do this!

4.  make sure all your serving dishes are clean + ready to go!

5.  plan out your outfit! as the host you sometimes forget about you...so make sure you focus a little energy on yourself, but if you're rushed on time- throw the hair in a bun and fake it til you make it.

FINALLY, ENJOY YOURSELF. IT'S A PARTY!

winter whites

SADLY, Christmas is over.  You most likely have a lot of left over greenery + pine.  Instead of the next day throw away- reuse it! Here are a few inspirations for repurposing those + adding in winter whites for a whole new look that is winter approved.

Also, ALWAYS a huge lover of winter whites in my life + wardrobe year round.  I've linked my favorite lifestyle items below..most are on sale now...  Enjoy!

a few of my favorite things.

1.  TREE HUNTING

Every year the day after thanksgiving it is a tradition to go up to "Santa's Tree's" and grab the more full looking REAL tree, then I go home, blast Christmas music and get to decorating.  This year was extra special because my mom was in town for Thanksgiving + we were able to do it together.

2.  CHRISTMAS CARDS

I get way too excited about Christmas cards I will admit it, BUT it's the only way once a year to get a "family photo" + have a reflection of where we were that year for the future.  I keep them as ornaments on the tree as a visual scrapbook.  SO let me love this tradition, it's the little things...

3. MORNINGS AT HOME WITH ARCHIE

If you haven't noticed yet, I love my dog.  Especially on the cold winter mornings I LOVE drinking my coffee and easing into the morning with him.  Before I have children of my own one day he will stay my current only child.  So... Sorry not sorry.

4.  FESTIVE DECOR + ENTERTAINING

MIC. DROP.

Favorite season meet favorite activity.

5.  OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.

I LOVE our neighborhood every season because of its charm + history but especially love it around Christmas.  If you drive on any given street in the 12s / Belmont neighborhood you are in for a treat.  I currently am in love with this historical compound of a home on Linden Avenue for their epic wreath...where does one even purchase that? Christmas Goals.

6.  GIVING GIFTS

I LOVE THE "GIVING SEASON". Friends + family may not always love my gifts but I love giving far more than receiving.  Most importantly I love picking a charity to give to every year and a family who needs things far more than we do.  It is a yearly reminder to think larger than myself + get giving.

7.  REMEMBERING THE REASON FOR THE SEASON

It's so easy to get caught up in instagram world of things looking perfect 24-7 / the constant "keep up" feeling but this holiday is a way to remind us that life is not about that.  We are not here for that.  It is a reminder to all to keep the faith and remember why we even celebrate Christmas...

John 3:16-17 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

Christmas is my absolute favorite season + I am so happy to have this outlet now to share with you my very favorite things.  Lots of love and...

HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS

MARY CARLISLE + RICKY | 9.22.17

I can happily say I couldn't be more thrilled for my past September bride + groom! Their wedding day was absolutely DREAMY and one to remember.  Besides them being beautiful people inside + out AND all the gorgeousness in... florals, linens, draping, design, personalization, planning, etc. that went into the day...the LOVE in the air by their guests was truly an amazing feeling. PLUS watching Mary Carlisle + Ricky's love unite was why I love what I do.  I believe in true love and feel absolutely blessed to be bringing dream days to life to people who value love and spread it to the world!

Enjoy the amazing photos below from Austin Gros + a little more detail of design elements all tagged below.

ENJOY FRIENDS! 'TIS THE SEASON

a thankful dinner.

Back in September I was asked to throw a lovely engagement dinner party at a beautiful farm west of Nashville.  I feel it perfectly translates to a thanksgiving dinner.   At each place setting there was a handmade leather journal from Forrest Nine shop + pencil in order to give the couple well wishes for their big day.  Just like what you would do on thanksgiving day but instead list out what you are thankful for this year.

I think being thankful should not be limited to just one day - much like this dinner it should be random nights in September/ whenever you feel like celebrating!  You should never have to limit your graciousness to one day.  Count your blessings everyday.

EXTRA thankful for this wonderful photographer friend, Austin Gros !
