COLLECTING COPPER.

This is by far my favorite color for fall. I LOVE this rich hue that pairs so well with pattern, and neutrals. I recently designed an entire engagement party (with complete design freedom!) off this color scheme + so excited to share how it turned out! ALSO Below are my favorite ways to use this color in daily life + in your home! Enjoy.

BOO.

Halloween really snuck up on me this year … I intended to do a murder mystery dinner with my closest friends but the busiest season of the year is hard not to enjoy the down time vs. throw another event. Maybe next year …

So for this year I thought I would highlight a Halloween that I enjoy, this is intended to be an adults only affair since my crowd is sans children currently! Instead of candy - I chose my all time favorite + “treat yourself” cocktail … a dirty martini (the best slightly spicy recipe listed below).

— shop the party —

ALL ABOUT A DIRTY MARTINI

RECIPE

2 1/2 oz of gin (or vodka)

  • 1/2 oz (15 mL) vermouth

  • 1/2 oz (15 mL) olive juice (brine solution from a jar of cocktail olives)

  • THE BEST TRICK…A SPLASH OF PEPERONCINI JUICE

  • Cocktail olives (one or two) on a cocktail stirrer …Pour the vodka, dry vermouth and olive brine into a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice and shake well.

    DIRECTIONS

  • Rub the rim of a martini glass with the wedge of lemon.

  • Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into the glass and add the olive.

  • pour into your martini glass — enjoy!

DAHLIA SEASON

Another favorite thing about FALL is that October is Dahlia season. Which are some of my favorite flowers! It was such a treat being invited out to the Natchez Glen farm to see the Dahlias in bloom (plus they have roses as well!). I loved being able to take a bucket of these beauties home + it’s a great thing to do by yourself to fill your home with the best priced stems in town, go with friends + eat at Loveless Cafe afterwards, or this would be a great mother/ daughter activity as well! See below to how I used my pretty picks.

The dahlia’s are so robust in color so I thought the perfect place for them was surrounded in neutrals fireside with my favorite combination, wine + cheese. There is nothing I love more than a cozy night in…

PENCIL + PAPER CO. | creative camp

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of helping Pencil + Paper Co. out with their first ever "Creative Camp".  It was amazing to meet the "campers" which was a group of creative, stylish and SWEET people who traveled all over for the day of fun.  Susan Johnson was there captivating it all beautifully!

1ST STOP | Gen (my chic Aunt who started P + P and is a major mentor of mine!) opened up her Nashville home for a little brunch + tour of their gorgeous remodeled home.  The morning was filled with her + her amazing team spilling their design hacks, fun stories and business tips...PLUS delicious brunch by one of my local faves, Little Octopus.

2ND STOP | the campers got on the fun Hello Trolley for shopping at Sarah Bartholomew's new GORGEOUS store.  Sarah was there to meet + greet everyone and tour her new space. (It's a new Nashville "shopping must" in my opinion)!

3RD STOP | because shopping makes you hungry (and thirsty) the trolley took everyone to Little Octopus restaurant in the gulch for a delicious + healthy meal.

4TH + 5TH STOPS | more fun filled shopping with the P + P team.  They shared their favorite vintage stores to show the beauty of a good thrift.  After they headed to Draper James (Bonus: P + P also helped in this build out!) for the final stop + happy hour! So thankful to meet everyone on this fun day, and loved helping out behind the scenes :)

SB x PB

This summer I had the pleasure in planning a launch party for local interior designer Sarah Bartholomew + her collection with Pottery Barn. The event was held last Thursday + the parties purpose was to showcase the items in her collection, by inviting her closest friends, family and favorite influencers.  They were able to chat over prosecco + caviar, see the collection for themselves, and cheers to Sarah on this exciting night!

SHOP SARAH'S COLLECTION + THE PRODUCTS USED!

The event was held at Henrietta Red and was such a beautiful night.  I was thrilled to be apart of this + can't wait to do more events like it. Thankful to my friends below who had their hand in it as well!

the nordstrom sale.

Wondering why almost EVERY "blogger" is throwing the Nordstrom sale out there on every post? The commission from Reward Style (liketoknowit) is significantly higher [on all sale products] for the next few weeks...smart of Nordstrom right? ..that's not all.

I like to keep it real on here ...my first job out of college was with Nordstrom.  It is an amazing company [to work for + to shop at] but they are filled with super smart sales tactics ...ie. the 2x a year "anniversary sale".  So now knowing what I know, I thought why not share?? ...This sale is a creation of ONLY Nordstrom's house brands (halogen, caslon, zella, treasure + bond to name a few) partnership brands (vince, vince camuto, j crew, madewell).  They are all custom products that are created JUST for this sale.  So they have complete control of what products will make the most bang for their buck + what will bring in the most income for a "discounted" rate. All the while giving you the thought of "saving big" / incentivizing those with larger social platforms via the high commission rate... They also create hype through this "access only" week which 100% is to get you to sign up for a card (which is also via their in house bank- yep, Nordstrom has it's own bank) So you feel the need to jump in the car on day 1 that it is open to the public. BRILLIANT right?

Anyways, don't get me wrong there are some good finds / great fall staples (HUGE Vince lover) but overall I I have to say I am never THAT impressed with this sale. It is a great time to shop for discounted basics but nothing is overwhelmingly awesome.  I still found some items so below here are my favorites...

ALSO if you like any of the items just click the photo + shop directly...it gives me commission! Every girl needs a side hustle.

coastal birthday dinner.

- HAPPY 30th -

Last weekend we celebrated my husband, Andrew turning 30 in our favorite place...Exuma, Bahamas with friends.  I wanted to share the nautical setup before the sun set! This was truly so easy + super easy to pack down there.  I picked items that were true to the scenery but also masculine since we were celebrating him!

SPRITZ:30

This week we are taking a fun friends trip for my husbands 30th birthday to Exuma, Bahamas.  His favorite drink is an Aperol Spritz.  In light of his big celebration I thought I would share my spin on this refreshing SUMMER cocktail!

START

1.  freeze the (extra large) cubes ahead of time...For this I had leftover flowers from an event so I thought it would make for an extra little detail.  These amazing silicon ice cube molds are the perfect size for my west elm glasses, I would also recommend these or these! (NO, these florals are not edible but the ice cubes are so large so the melting period is far past the time to sip down your drink!

NEXT,

Add aperol: you usually do 2 parts aperol (put the aperol in first for the best flavor) / add 2 parts prosecco / top off your drink with soda water + a garnish of orange!

CHEERS TO SPRITZ:30

FEELING EXTRA?? ...get some swag.

vacation mode.

EVERY SUMMER my husbands family takes a fun trip somewhere...this year we are going to Oxfordshire + London! I have never been to London so I am excited to see all of the sites + learn a little more about the city.  We have a packed schedule ahead full of eating, drinking, seeing landmarks + of course shopping.

This is 100% the planner in me but when I travel I am a huge researcher before I get there.  I like to know what the restaurant is, what the days consist of + what the temperatures will likely be.  This is super helpful in packing for a long getaway too! While this is a new (and fashion only) post all about what I have packed + what I have separated into day + night outfits.  Can't wait to get there!

LIFE UPDATE: We moved [down the street] last week.  As if May wasn't a crazy busy month already ...why not throw a move into the mix? I am so thrilled for this new adventure but even more thrilled to make a new space feel like ours.

I can't wait to share more but up first, in perfect timing for summer: the screened in porch.

rosé season.

Recently I had the pleasure of having Hunter Premo + Cameron Premo over to my house for a little get together + showcase of all my favorite things from Target's newly launched OPALHOUSE.  I loved catching up with these two over delicious David Arthur rosé, we talked about our year so far + it was fun to incorporate so much fun (bright) summer items!

This post is also meaningful to me because it was exactly ONE YEAR ago when I had a conversation with Hunter about "wanting to start a blog", even though she is younger than me she is an old soul who is INCREDIBLY supportive, and she was SO helpful/ knowledgeable about how to start...for that reason I am so excited to share with you all this bright + fun dinner setup.

Also....exciting NEWS: I am officially on rewardStyle (thanks Hunter for the referral!)! So if you like anything click on the pictures at the bottom - you know the drill.

dickel.

This time last year I did a series of events hosted by Pencil + Paper Co. and George Dickel whiskey.  Both events were lovely spring days filled with education, whiskey + good company.

The first was held at Whites Mercantile in 12S neighborhood....

SEE MORE HERE | thank you Austin Gros Photography

The second was a Sunday brunch held at Husk, before the guests dined they enjoyed authentic bluegrass music from Mystic River band.

See more here | Thank you Clark Brewer Photography

Personally, I realized after producing these events that they were the start of many for me....  I loved creating "branded" events that leave guests talking about experiences instead of something they saw scrolling on their phones via Facebook's creepy algorithm.  When we get away from our screens we interact, we socialize, and we make memories ...ALL served over a whiskey sour.

CHEERS TO MORE EVENTS LIKE THESE!

29.

Today marks a personal day of growth. Literally...

29 years ago I was born! I think birthdays are meant to be celebrated, but to me...it's less about "me me me" + more importantly it is a day of reflection for what I have done with my time on this beautiful earth.  I still have days where I am at a standstill, frustrated, but I am so happy overall + I am proud of everything 29 years has brought me.  Mostly, I am so thankful for all of the love that I give + receive daily and now MORE THAN EVER I am incredibly motivated to dive into my last year of my 20's!

Below is an intimate setup of all things I LOVE... let it be known: there is nothing wrong with throwing your own birthday fete.  At least you know you will get what you want :)!  (plus it's almost impossible throwing me a party- my friends will agree) #controlfreak.

People say aging is a terrible thing but I AM LOVING learning more + growing up as a person. I feel as though aging is a blessing because it is allowing you more time to have an impact on others in a positive way.

SO 29, BRING IT ON.
